PLOT: American Civil War, ”Freeman of Jones” tells the story of a challenging southern farmer, Newt Knight and his extraordinary armed rebellion against the Confederacy. Joining with other small farmers and with the assistance of local slaves, Knight staged an uprising that led to Jones County (Mississippi) to withdraw from the Confederation, creating the Free State of Jones. His marriage to a former slave, Rachel (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), and subsequent establishment of a mixed community was a unique example of postwar South. Knight continued to struggle during Reconstruction, distinguishing himself as a compelling but controversial figure who led his challenge beyond the war.

PLOT: The career of Nicolas Winding Refn seem to be marked by controversy, his films can cause anything but indifference. Drive and Only God Forgives are two good examples of this. His style is characterized by a poetic air and there are many ways to tell a story, theirs no longer the original tremendously. Detractors also has, perhaps being accused of pretentious. One does not choose neither one side nor the other, each film is different, and as such try analysis.
The Neon Demon is masterful in both its conception and realization. It has an air of ochentero video clip, without it being at all pejorative. He dares to entangle the lofty images with a background that bare the lowest human instincts, something like The Tree of Life Terrence Malick bridging the gap.
