Death to 2020 Review

Death to 2020 Review

Death to 2020, a film directed by Al Campbell and Alice Mathias, is a mockumentary that traces all the most important events of 2020 in an ironic key. The protagonists of the story are some figures who filled the television screens during the year, including politicians, scientists, psychologists, but also ordinary people, all sharing an interest in seeing their own image reflected in the camera, rather than debating the delicate issues of 2020. These characters tackle the hottest topics that have affected the United States and the United Kingdom during one of the worst years. It is a comical and ironic way to argue and deal with the many events that marked this year: we discuss the bushfires in Australia, the environmental speeches of Greta Thunberg at the World Economic Forum, the presidential elections in the States, and the killing of George Floyd, which sparked protests and demonstrations all over the world, focusing the attention of the media on the Black Lives Matter movement. The great protagonist of 2020 is obviously the Covid-19 Pandemic, which is gutted in every phase, from the outbreak of the first cases to the vaccine experimentation. Death to 2020 Review 3

“Death to 2020” is a documentary look back at the year 2020, which mostly takes the events with humor. The jokes are sometimes badly repeated, and the mockumentary lacks courage. All in all, however, coming to terms with a horror year is already fun, which is partly thanks to the playful, prominent ensemble, who make themselves a monkey here as experts and interviewees.

Death to 2020 Review 3

This documentary has brought me to several, actual laugh out loud moments. Congrats for making me laugh at this outrageous year, hope others who’ll watch this movie also had a great experience watching this movie. For me, this is a perfect comedy movie at the end of this year.
