Sam is a young writer from Brooklyn who keeps up with the writing of the novel versions of popular films about water. But he has bigger ambitions and begins to write in a personal story. When he meets the waitress Birdie he falls head over heels for her, but is too shy to do them. On the advice of his roommate he looks at their Facebook page to find out their preferences. Then he takes guitar lessons, tries on preparing French dishes and pretends to be a highly talented dancer. But the problems only start properly when Birdie slowly falls in love with his new me and Sam is increasingly plagued by doubts that it will actually be attracted only by his alter ego and not his true self.
